SEIS (Service Exports From India Scheme)

For Promoting international business schemes under Service Export from India Schemes introduced. Service Export from India Scheme is a modification of old Served from India Scheme which was announced in FTP 2009-14. Service exporter get benefit under SEIS scheme, would be computed as a percentage of net foreign exchange earned by the service exporter. Exporter get benefit in duty credit script mode , which can be used or eligible for sale. The percentage of reward is up to 5 % of export turnover.

Nature of Reward: – Duty Credit Scrips shall be granted as rewards under SEIS. It will be freely transferable. Therefore, if exporter is not in position to use the Duty Credit Scrips, he can sell the same in market.

SEIS is scheme introduced to promote export of services from India. Scheme was introduced under Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20. Object of this scheme is to encourage service exports. This incentive scheme is eligible for Certain list of service exporter who have valid IEC and RCMC. Earlier benefits of SEIS was not available to SEZ units However new Act had extended its benefits to SEZ units. On net foreign earning benefit of SEIS is get calculated.

  • For Company : Minimum Trade $ 15000 in Previous Year
  • For Individual : Minimum Trade $ 10000 in Previous Year

Use Of Script

SEIS scheme grants benefits of up to 5% of exports. Exporter can use the credit scrips for various payments. SEIS Scheme defines for which payment exporter can utilize the scrips.

Sale of Scrips

SEIS shall be granted as rewards under export promotion. It will be freely transferable. Therefore, if exporter is not in position to use the Duty Credit Scrip, he can sell the same in market

Percentage of Benefit

The rates of reward are in the range of 2 to 7 percent of the net foreign exchange earned depending upon the category/ nature of services. SEIS scheme is targeted to reach a wider section of service providers.

SEIS Export Rate is mentioned under Appendix 3D is between 3% to 7%. As per nature of services benefit rate under SEIS Scheme changes.

Yes. Services exporter who want to apply for SEIS Claim need to have valid & Active IEC Registration. IEC is mandatory for SEIS Registration

As per para 9.10 of the Handbook of Procedures 2015-20, DGFT May dispose of application in 3 working days. However in case of deficiencies it may take longer time.

RCMC is one of mandatory document for SEIS Application. RCMC need to be renewed each year for making SEIS application.

Duty Credit Scrips issued on or after 01.01.2016 under chapter-3 shall be valid for a period of 24 month.
